Meet Our Team

  • Jane Virga

    FOUNDER + INSTRUCTOR

Jane has been an artist with a deep appreciation of the human body. With a BFA in Art History from the College of William and Mary and many years of renovating huge spaces in New York, Jane forged an unusual career in creating and designing beautiful spaces where people can come together, laugh, love and be healthy. After healing post-natal, hip-misalignments through Pilates, she certified with Jean Sullivan at A Body of work in San Francisco. She feels that teaching Pilates is a natural extension of her life-long fascination with the relationship between architecture and people and bodies and souls. A mom of three, an artist, a serial-entrepreneur, Jane is a Pilates instructor with a sweet spot for a good time and a disco ball. Her goal for Tandem Pilates is to create a space where people feel fully self-expressed, included, healthy and empowered. If she can help people get aligned and feel good in their bodies, she says, “That would be amazing!”

In just a few weeks of Pilates, Shannon was able to heal what 6 months of traditional therapy couldn’t and she learned to trust her body and intuition again. “I love helping people reach their goals and witnessing those aha! moments when they realize something life-changing about themselves and their bodies for the first time”

  • Molly Gates

    INSTRUCTOR

Molly is an apprentice teacher working to become a certified Balanced Body comprehensive instructor, having completed her training at Ellie Herman Studio in San Francisco. In a previous life, Molly worked as an RN in the emergency department for several years, and then made a brief attempt to work in culinary until the physicality of both jobs caught up to her, resulting in chronic upper-body pain and impinged nerves, causing weakness and numbness in her upper extremities. In search of non-invasive treatments, she started physical therapy and Pilates at the same time and quickly realized not only was Pilates more effective in treating her pain, but it was also improving her overall strength, mobility, and posture. From there, her fascination and practice of Pilates took off, and she has experienced profound changes in her body since she began. Molly believes anybody can benefit from Pilates, and wants to help others improve their mind-body connection to make every movement more effective, efficient, and free of discomfort. She’s also Mom to the best boy ever, Bernie Dog, her adorable Chihuahua mix.
